The Carolina Elite 5v5 League is a great way for players to stay active during the summer or winter months. We offer divisions for players born from 2019 through 2007.

**We will continue using age groups by birth year, not the new age-group matrix, starting the Fall 2026 season.

Our league is structured to enable teams to continue collaborating while focusing on their individual development during the off-season.

Players are encouraged to organize teams before registration.

During the registration process, you will be asked to identify the Team Name of your 5v5 team. Teams will be placed into groups according to competitive level. 

We would encourage 5v5 teams to have a larger roster during the Summer league because players may be on summer vacation or taking weekend trips.

 

All teams will play at least 6 games. Each team requires a volunteer coach.

The 5v5 season consists of games only; there are no practices.

 

WHY 5v5?

The priority in 5v5 is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more pleasure kids derive from participating, the more they wish to play and practice independently. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for soccer must be cultivated. Small-sided games like 5v5 are the foundation of such goals because of it:

• Allows players to touch the ball frequently.
• Presents many opportunities to score goals and score goals often.
• Encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive and rewarding part of the game.
• Maximizes active participation and minimizes inactivity and boredom.
• Provides a well-organized playing environment with improvised fields.
• Reflects the philosophy of player development expressed in state and national coaching schools.
• Eliminates complicated rules such as off-sides that may hinder youngsters from “playing”.
• Reflects the appropriate role of the coach as a Facilitator.
• Allows the game to be the teacher!

 

Season and Venue Information:

All the games will be played at MeSA Soccer Complex – 1020 Anderson Ridge Road, Greer, SC 29651

Registration for our Summer 5v5 season will remain open until May 10th.

After May 10th, a $25 late fee will apply. Players and teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Most Games will be held on Saturdays, but may also be on Fridays and/or Sundays.

 

Matches will start on June 13th. The last weekend of play will be July 18th. Most games will be played on Saturdays from 8:00am - 4:00pm, and if needed, on Fridays from 5:30pm-8:30pm and/or Sundays from 1:00pm-7:00pm.

 

Game Day Dates - Saturdays and/or Friday and/or Sunday:

• June 13/14th (two games) and June 20/21st (one game) and June 27/28^th (two games)
• No games the weekend of July 4/5th
• July 11/12th (one game). And July 17/18/19th (Playoffs - ALL teams qualify)

 

**Potential for being assigned a Friday Night Game as well

There will be awards for the champions of each division.

All matches will be played on the turf fields at the MeSA complex. 

Athletic trainers will be on hand during Carolina Elite 5v5 League matches.

Please make sure that your child takes a water bottle to games. All players MUST wear shin guards to play. 

 

League Format:

All teams will play 5v5 sided games with 4 field players and a goalkeeper (max roster size of 10)

Each player will play at least half of each game. As with all other commitments, players are expected to attend all matches regularly, inform the coach of anticipated absences, and arrive at the field on game day at the time designated by the coach.

Fees:

Fees include Registration and insurance, referee fees, field use, and league administration.

ALL PLAYERS: $95

AFTER May 10th: $120 (Late Fee)

 

Uniforms:

All field players must wear the same color shirt. If two teams have similar colored shirts, the HOME team must change to a different color. **Bibs will be available at the fields if the home team needs to change.

Goalkeepers must wear a shirt of a different color from both teams. 

 

Volunteers:

All teams must have a volunteer coach who is over 18 years of age. If you would like to coach or be a team manager, please register to volunteer when you register your children. **The volunteer coach will receive a discount for the next 5v5 league.
