The Carolina Elite 5v5 League is a great way for players to stay active during the summer or winter months. We offer divisions for players born from 2018 through 2006. We have a place for everyone to play!

 

Our league is organized to allow teams to continue working together while focusing on their individual development during the off-season. Players are encouraged to organize teams prior to registration. During the registration process, you will be asked to identify the Team Name of your 5v5 team. Teams will be placed into groups according to competitive level. 

 

All teams will play a minimum of seven games. Each team requires a volunteer coach. The 5v5 season consists of games only; there are no practices.

 

WHY 5v5?

The priority in 5v5 is to motivate players in an environment that is conducive to learning. The more pleasure kids derive from participating, the more they wish to play and practice independently. While their instinct to play is natural, their affection and appreciation for soccer must be cultivated. Small-sided games like 5v5 are the foundation of such goals because of it:

• Allows players to touch the ball frequently.

• Presents many opportunities to score goals and score goals often.
• Encourages regaining possession of the ball as a productive and rewarding part of the game.

• Maximizes active participation and minimizes inactivity and boredom.

• Provides a well-organized playing environment with improvised fields.

• Reflects the philosophy of player development expressed in state and national coaching schools.
• Eliminates complicated rules such as off-sides that may hinder youngsters from “playing”.

• Reflects the appropriate role of the coach as a Facilitator.

• Allows the game to be the teacher!

 

Season and Venue Information:

Registration for our winter 5v5 season will remain open until May 1st. After May 1st, there will be a $25 late fee. Players and teams will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

 

Most Games will be held on Saturdays. Matches will start June 1st. The last weekend of play will be July 20th. Most games will be played on Saturdays from 9:00am - 2:00pm, and if needed, on Fridays from 5:40pm-8:30pm and / or Sundays from 1:00pm-7:00pm.

 

Game Day Dates:

• Saturdays in June - June 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th
• Saturdays in July - July 13th and July 20th

**No Games Played the weekend of July 6th**

 

There will be awards for the champions of each division.

All matches will be played on the turf fields at the MeSA complex. 

Athletic trainers will be on hand during Carolina Elite 5v5 League matches.

 

Please make sure that your child takes a water bottle to games. All players MUST wear shin guards to play. 

 

League Format:

· All teams will play 5v5 sided games with 4 field players and a goalkeeper (max roster size of 10)

Each player will play at least half of each game. As with all other commitments, it is expected that players attend all matches regularly, inform the coach of anticipated absences, and arrive at the field on game day at the time designated by the coach.

Fees:

Fees include Registration and insurance, referee fees, field use, and league administration.

ALL PLAYERS: $95

AFTER May 1st: $120

 

Uniforms:

All field players must wear the same color shirt. Matching shorts and socks are also encouraged. If two teams have similar colored shirts, the HOME team must change to a different color. Goalkeepers must wear a shirt of a different color from both teams. 

 

Volunteers:

All teams must have a volunteer coach who is over 18 years of age. If you would like to coach or be a team manager, please register to volunteer when you register your children. We invite your suggestions and comments. We may not be able to implement every good idea this season, but we hope to always be open to improvement in the seasons to come.
